To transform a former B&B into a contemporary family home located in the York countryside.
./SSD were appointed to transform this 17th Century dwelling, previously used as an B&B, into a luxury family home.
The brief provided by our client asked to extend the building and create an open-plan interior layout. Both the exterior and interior of the dwelling featured many historical architectural characteristics, including exposed beams and stone fireplaces. The design would be sympathetic to these features and consider a modern design that would complement the traditional, rural building style.
The proposed construction of the new fully glazed garden room laid the foundations for a roof top terrace accessed through the master bedroom or the first floor entertainment room. Additional living space was also created within the loft space with a new zinc clad, contemporary style dormer.
Building work commenced in spring 2018. Our project management team were heavily involved in the organisation of project build, providing information to the contractor and attending weekly inspections.
