To design a refurbishment scheme to Selby RUFC clubhouse that would provide space for the growing number a club members, development team facilities, space for event hire and executive suite.
./This project required expertise in architectural design, interior design and project management.
Through studying the existing building, it was decided by the ./SSD team and Selby RUFC committee that the building would be adapted through extensive remodelling of the existing interior and a proposed dormer construction to the first floor.
Throughout the design stage the ./SSD interior designers were involved in creating a design scheme that worked in harmony with the architectural design. The design included a new functional internal layout, with open plan dining area, members lounge and new commercial kitchen and bar.
The installation of movable partition walls meant that the space could be easily divided to be used by multiple groups at the same time generating new business for the club.
The interior design scheme colour palette and materiality was driven by the club’s colours. With the new open plan space, it was important to the club’s committee that the warm and friendly atmosphere found in the existing clubhouse would still be communicated throughout.
The use of warm natural tones, timber accents and low-level feature lighting also helped to create the desired atmosphere.
